SAFETY STANDARDS WORLD-WIDE

CO-RiDER

FRONT MOUNTED CHILD SEAT

USE CYCLE SHOW VOUCHER

The CO-RIDER is designed and tested to the highest standards (we do, after all put our own children on them). There is a degree of confusion regarding safety standards in different countries. While the CO-RIDER  has been designed to meet and exceed the current regulations regarding child seats, these are written for rear mounted seats or front mounted seats designed for children who weigh a maximum of 15kg (33lbs). The CO-RIDER  is aimed at children aged between 18 months and 5 years with a weight limit of up to 21kg (45 lbs). as such it is excluded from current UK standards.

Does the CO-RIDER meet ASTM 1625-00 standards?

The US ASTM Safety standards 1625-00 is written for rear child carriers so front mounted seats do not apply at this time. CO-RIDER is working with the ASTM to create a new ASTM standard for all front mounted seats that is above ASTM 1625-00.

One of our goals at CO-RIDER is to petition and work with the ASTM to create a new ASTM standard for all front mounted seats that is above ASTM 1625-00.

Does the CO-RIDER meet BS EN 14344?

Yes and No? The British Standard is the safety standard for child seats for cycles. There are 5 main areas the seat was tested for 1) Construction, 2) Strength and Durability, 3) Attachment of the seat to the cycle, 4) Restraint System, and 5) Foot guarding and retention. The CO-RIDER has been tested beyond the levels required and passed all categories of the standard. However BS EN 14344 is aimed at seats with a maximum weight of 15kg (33lb) below the recommended minimum starting weight/age for the CO-RIDER and as such is inappropriate for a seat such as the CO-RIDER.

PLEASE NOTE

There is NO British Kite mark available for Front Mounted Child seats and NO British Standard against which a Front Mounted Child Seat can be CE marked.

For more information on CE Marking and Kite Marks Google "British Standards or Kite Mark" or go to http://www.bsigroup.com/en/

The CO-RIDER comes with a full 12 month manufacturer's warranty which will cover your product in the unlikely event of any defects during this period.
